ARTIST STATEMENT
My garments are an embodiment of My belief that garments are wearable art piece Inspired by the clothes and art of the post punk era, my work is intended to invoke reactions from onlookers. I Explore themes of wear and personalization through the repeated use of multiple types of distressing such as creating holes, burning, dirt and paint splotches, and leaving hems raw. I use art and distressing to push the limits of what is considered high fashion.
ARTIST BIO
I have been around art my whole life. My dad is a tattoo artist and painter and my uncle paints as well. Starting in elementary school I would make and sell comic books about my stuffed animals being super heroes. Later in my schooling I would create school presentations using digital story time animation that my friends introduced me to. After taking a break from art for a number of years I started to get into high fashion because of my best friend and business partner. We took a fashion course together in highschool where we made a paper dress that referenced the United Nations and the war in Ukraine. Without him I would have never gotten into fashion. He introduced me to some of biggest inspirations; Rick Owens, Raf Simons, Vivienne Westwood. During my time at fashion school I started to get into watching runways and exploring brands that aligned with my personal views about fashion. Music is my biggest inspiration. Bands like The Cure, Joy Division, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy all play a big role in what I design.
